Reverend Jeffrey Matthews
Pastor
A life-long United Methodist, I was raised in the Capital District and – along with the people of Trinity Church – have a strong commitment to the ecumenical and inter-faith ministries that are so vital among the faith communities of Albany. My vision and passion for Trinity Church is for it to thrive as a good neighbor in our community and a strong base for ministries of justice, mercy and kindness in and beyond Albany. I embrace the diversity of the Trinity community and believe that openness of heart, mind and spirit is essential for Christian disciples.
I began my ministry with Trinity in 2008. My undergraduate degrees are from Sage and Siena Colleges. I also studied at the United Theological College in Bangalore, South India and at Andover Newton Theological School in Newton Centre, Massachusetts where I received the Master of Divinity Degree. Before being appointed at Trinity Church, I served rural, small town and suburban congregations in upstate New York.
My interests include travel, and I have especially enjoyed leading faith-based tours of Israel, Jordan, Egypt and Greece.
